	Beginning The student has just been introduced to this particular skill and has not mastered any portion. 1 pts	Emerging The student is beginning to identify very basic components associated with the skill. 2 pts	Developing The student is making progress and is developing their skill level. 3 pts	Mastery The student has mastered this particular skill. 4 pts
Identifying Beginning Sounds Students will be given 10 cvc picture cards. They will then be asked to state the beginning sound associated with each picture card.	Beginning When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is not able to correctly state the beginning sound of any pictures.	Emerging When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the beginning sound of 1-4 cards.	Developing When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the beginning sound of 5-9 cards.	Mastery When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the beginning sound of all 10 cards.
Identifying Ending Sounds Students will be given a set of 10 cvc picture cards. They will then be asked to state the ending sound associated with each picture card.	Beginning When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is not able to correctly state the ending sound of any pictures.	Emerging When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the ending sound of 1-4 cards.	Developing When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the ending sound of 5-9 cards.	Mastery When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the ending sound of all 10 cards.
Identifying Medial Sounds Students will be given a set of 10 cvc picture cards. They will then be asked to state the medial sound associated with each picture card.	Beginning When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is not able to correctly state the medial sound of any picutres	Emerging When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly state the medial sound of 1-4 cards. Sound Segmenting Students will be given a set of 10 cvc picture cards. They will then be asked to "sound spell" (sound segment) the word associated with each picture card.	Beginning When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is not able to correctly sound segment any of the words.	Emerging When given a set 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly sound segment 1-4 words.	Developing When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly sound segment 5-9 words.	Mastery When given a set of 10 cvc picture cards, the student is able to correctly sound segment all 10 words.
