Intro Paragraph	Excellent Paragraph grabs the reader's attention. Has clear, thought out thesis. Thesis is structured so reader knows what the author will write and prove throughout the paper.	Good Thesis statement is clear. Paragraph may not be as original or thought provoking.	Fair Thesis statement is included buy may not clearly outline what the essay is about. It does not have much originality. There is no clear purpose.	Poor No clear thesis statement is present. Reader has to figure out the main topic of the essay.
Body Paragraphs and Organization	Excellent Body paragraphs included proof relating back to the thesis. Each idea proves the thesis. The paper has clear transitions and is well organized.	Good Paragraphs include proof. There are transitions but there is some trouble with the organization of the ideas.	Fair Paragraphs have ideas that are vague or that do not relate to thesis. Transitions are not clear. Paper is lacking ample explanation and analysis.	Poor Paragraphs don't support thesis. There are no transitions; the lack of organization makes it difficult to read. Explanation and analysis are confusing or absent.
