Side Mirror Drawing

Students will complete a drawing using a vehicle's side mirror as a base. The student will use either perspective drawing or surrealism to create an environment within the mirror.

Not Proficient BASIC The side mirror takes up most of the paper. The composition has been somewhat considered with some evidence of thought to supporting elements.	Proficient PROFICIENT The mirror takes up the correct amount of space on the paper. Evidence of supporting elements enhance the composition.	Advanced ADVANCED Contains a clear focal point (side mirror) and is skillfully supported by elements of design that create a cohesive overall feel.
Shading and Shape	Needs Work BELOW BASIC Few of the objects are shaded and most of the objects do no reflect the actual contours of the objects.	Not Proficient BASIC Objects are shaded and most of the objects reflect actual contour of objects. Evidence of 5-6 values.	Proficient PROFICIENT Highlights reflect actual highlights from shading, and all of the objects reflect actual contours.	Advanced ADVANCED Varied value range of darks, highlights, and mid tones, and all of the objects reflect the actual contour (shape). Uses shading to create edges and lines.
Craftsmanship	Needs Work BELOW BASIC The amount of stray marks, smudges, or paper imperfections detracts from the overall apperance of the drawing. Application-Perspective/Surrealism	Needs Work BELOW BASIC Many techniques or different kinds of mark making are employed and feel inconsistent or chaotic.	Not Proficient BASIC There is some consistency with mark making.	Proficient PROFICIENT Marks are consistent reflecting the personal style of the artist emerging.	Advanced ADVANCED Marks are very consistent, and confidently rendered reflecting intentional development of personal style.
