Prefer to listen to familiar or favorite books many times

Repeats vocabulary from a familiar story

Demonstrates an interest in a variety of early literacy experiences such as telling and listening to stories, singing and saying rhymes;

Incorporates books and other print materials into their play;

Points to objects/characters within a familiar story, when asked;

Uses pictures from text to demonstrate understanding of vocabulary

Begins to understand the sequence of a story;

With support, retell or reenact familiar stories with pictures or props;

Ask and answer questions about main characters in a familiar story;

Demonstrates knowledge of details from familiar stoories about characters, events, specific vocabulary from the text;

Engages in read alouds by making predictions and inferences; and summarizing stories
