Journal Writing Rubric

Students will write a journal entry after they have read a chapter from The Outsiders. They will create a chapter title and write down the reason why they come up with such title to reflect what they have read. Sometimes there will be prompts provided for them to write an additional entry.

The examples also show no connections to the title.	Satisfactory There are some relevant examples. Connections between the title and examples need to be clearly presented.	Good Use relevant examples from the novel to support your title. Connections between the title and examples are presented.	Excellent The examples are specific and convincing as evidences of your title. Insightful connections between the title and examples is clearly represented.
Depth of Reflection	Improvement Needed Little or no evidence of logical and critical thinking is shown.	Satisfactory The journal entry demonstrates a basic understanding of the chapter.
