Requires visual understanding of what is to be given and mixed for the patient. Make sure patients name, DOB, doctors signature and the signa of the medication included.
Requires proper information being added to text while typing during production of label.
Student gathers correct IV solution, medications and size of syringe to be used for mixing IV.
While working in a hood, student correctly draws up the ordered amount of medication and while using aseptic technique, injects medication into IV bag.
Applying correct label to the correct medication in the correct area of the IV bag.
Follows state protocol by ensuring pharmacists initials are correctly labeled on IV bag.
Student properly dispenses medication to correct nurse or patient.
Student must dispose of trash and empty medication bottles in approved receptacles (i.e. sharps container or black box) Disinfects area.
