The purpose of this rubric is to assess the second grade student's performance on their weekly journal oral presentations, and to monitor their progression throughout the school year. Each week, the class is given a topic to write a journal about. Throughout the week, they are given time to work on their journals and on Friday they present the orally to the class.

The presenters are off topic and do not discuss the content of their poster. Presenters do not know who is supposed to be speaking.

The students did not talk about all the points that are listed on their poster. Presentation well organized, some hesitation.

The presentation highlights all the issues and suggestions featured on the poster. There is a very nice flow to the presentation and presenters are well prepared.

The presentation is 2 minutes or less.

The presentation is 3-4minutes.

The presentation is 5-6 minutes, presenters do not have to be cut off.
Posture and Eye Contact
Needs improvement
Slouches and/or makes no eye contact with the audience. Audience was unable to hear presenters.

Stands up straight, but makes inconsistent eye contact with the audience. Presenters had to be reminded 3 times to speak loudly.
Excellent
Stands up straight and makes consistent eye contact with the audience. Presenters spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear with no reminders to speak up.
Q&A
Needs improvement
Students could not answer questions about their poster.
Good
Students were hesitant in their responses but gave accurate information regarding their work.

Students gave informative responses about their poster without any hesitation
