Shadow Art Space- Negative and Positive
	Level 4 5 pts	Level 3 4 pts	Level 2 3 pts	Level 1 2 pts
Understanding Demonstrating the instructions and the element of design- SPACE- particularly Positive and Negative space.	Level 4 Student followed all directions. Student used inanimate objects to create an interesting shadow that filled the paper well. Student's work shows understanding of contour lines and both negative and positive space.	Level 3 Student followed a lot of the directions. Student used objects to create a shadow with somewhat interesting positive and negative spaces that filled the page fairly well. Student's work shows good use of contour lines.	Level 2 Student followed a few of the directions. Student used objects to create a shadow with but there was not a good balance of positive and negative spaces. The shapes did not fill the page well. Student's work shows little knowledge of contour lines.	Level 1 Student did the minimum or the artwork was not completed.
Craftsmanship/Choice of Media Neatness, Precision, and Execution of Selected Media.	Level 4 Student demonstrates a great understanding of there selected media. Student's artwork is neat and clean looking. Negative space was filled.	Level 3 Student demonstrates a good understanding of their selected media. Student's artwork is neat and clean looking.	Level 2 Student demonstrates an average understanding of their selected media. Student's artwork is neat and clean looking.	Level 1 Student showed poor craftsmanship very little effort given to presentation. Negative pace is not filled.
Creativity/Originality Inventiveness, express ideas and use of imagination.	Level 4 Student used his/her imagination to create an original work of art. Material chosen was creative.	Level 3 Student showed a good amount of creativity. Image was interesting but material was ordinary.	Level 2 Student showed very little creativity. Image was similar to the one demonstrated, no outside of the box idea with very simple media used.	Level 1 Student showed no evidence of original thought.
Effort What it takes to finish the project.	Level 4 It is evident that the student spent time working entirely on the project. Was submitted on time.	Level 3 It is evident that the student spent a good deal of time working on this assignment. Submitted late.	Level 2 It is evident that the student spent only a short amount of time on his project. Submitted late.	Level 1 Student did not use time wisely when making the artwork and as a result it was unfinished.
