Ceramic Monster Project

Students will create a ceramic version of children's drawing. This is a collaboration between our elementary students and our middle school student.

Studio Practices 10 pts Students participate in clean up, return tools and clay to proper storage and use safe practices in the classroom.	Beginning Students showed no initiative to clean, had no accountability for the shared tools, their personal responsibilities for clay and their bags. The student did not practice safe studio practices and was sent out because of it. 4.pts	Developing Student took little initiative to clean, returning tools, and keeping track of their clay and bags. Student were constantly reminded of safe studio practices. 6pt	Accomplished Student took some initiative to clean, returning tools, and keeping track of their clay and bags. Student was reminded of safe studio practices from time to time. 8pt	Mastery Student did an excellent job of cleaning, returning tools, and keeping track of their clay and bags. Safety and horseplay was never an issue. 10 pts.
Objective 1 10 pts My Monster is successful when I have completed the task using slab, coil and pinch pot hand building techniques and have created a visual likeness to my clients drawings. Objective 2 10 pts My monster must be constructed using form. It should have height, width, and length having visual depth or adding together two pinch pots but IT CAN NOT BE A SOLID CHUNK OF CLAY!!!!	Beginning Student did not complete the project. 6pts.	Developing Limited understanding and/or execution of objective. Student did not try to use either method and turned in a hunk of clay. 7pts	Accomplished Proficiency evident Student has used one of the two methods taught to create work. 8pts	Mastery Exhibits definitive care, effort & skill to master the objective in all aspects.There joints of the slabs or combination of pinch pots are flawless. 10 pts
Objective 3 10 pts My monster must be at least five inches tall, can stand on its own showing great craftsmanship.	Beginning Student did not complete the project or the craftsmanship is a hot mess and it does not look like a 3d monster. 5pts	Developing Limited understanding and/or execution of objective. The monster can not stand and is very small. Details are only developing. 6 pt	Accomplished Proficiency evident The monster can stand on its own. Attention to detail makes is eventide. Craftsmanship is proficient. 8pts	Mastery Exhibits definitive care, effort & skill to master the objective in all aspects. Craftsmanship is greatly considered in joints, seams, added textures and glazes. 10 pts
Objective 4 10 pts My monster has a variety of textures and added details that give my work a personality and expression.	Beginning Student did not pay attention to any of the expressive details within their work. This work has no personality. 4pts	Developing Limited understanding and/or execution of showing expression in the work. 6 pt	Accomplished Proficiency evident. Students did take time to incorporate the expressive details. 8 pts	Mastery Exhibits definitive care, effort & skill to master the objective in all aspects. 10 pts
