Abstract Sculpture of Emotion

he students will be able to create a free form sculpture with an organic shape that is at least 12 inches high with 100% accuracy. The students will be able to identify sculpture in the round, and form as a design element with 100% accuracy. The students will be able to symbolize an emotion through color and form by creating and painting an abstract sculpture with 100% accuracy.

	Level 1 The student does not meet the objectives and criteria for the project. 5 pts	Level 2 The student meets a few of the objectives and criteria for the project. 10 pts	Level 3 The student meets most the objectives and criteria for the project. 15 pts	Level 4 Student meets and exceeds the objectives and criteria for the project. 20 pts
Use of design principles/creativity The student uses elements of art to show abstract form and express emotion through color using creativity.	Level 1 The student shows an undeveloped knowledge and application of design elements. Shows little or no creativity in design (no additional details).	Level 2 The student shows a developing knowledge of radial balance and shows some creativity in design.	Level 3 The student demonstrates knowledge and application of radial balance and shows creativity in design.	Level 4 The student shows an advanced knowledge and application of the objectives and shows excellent creativity in design.
Follows directions Follows directions related to the project to create an organic shape that is 12 inches high that is painted with a color to symbolize emotion.	Level 1 The student does not follow the directions.	Level 2 The student follows the direction with some deviation.	Level 3 The student follows the directions with slight deviation.	Level 4 The student follows the directions precisely with no deviation, or acceptable creative deviation.
Craftsmanship Neatness demonstrated through shaping the wire, using the pantyhose material, and painting.	Level 1 The student does not make efforts to neatly use art materials.	Level 2 Craftmanship and neatness is not consistant.	Level 3 The student demonstrates good craftmanship and neatness when using chosen art materials.	Level 4 Excellent craftsmanship is demonstrated throught the process of the project.
Attitude/Use of Class Time	Level 1 Student is at times argumentive and/or uninvolved.	Level 2 Student is distracted and /or not doing assignment and needs reminders about task.	Level 3 Student demonstrates good attitude and redirection is rare.	Level 4 Student demonstrates excellent attitude and work skills.
Student Citizenship	Level 1 Student has much difficulty following classroom rules.	Level 2 Student needs reminders to follow rules like reading the "Do Now" directions , bringing a pencil, and/or working quietly.	Level 3 Student follows class rules well, redirection is rare.	Level 4 Student follows all classroom rules independently.
