	Beginning 1 pts	Developing 2 pts	Meets expectations 3 pts
First Line	Beginning It is unclear that this is a summary, because none of the key parts are included.	Developing It only includes one of the key parts<BR> Title<BR> Main idea.	Meets expectations It includes the name of the book It tells the main idea. The book title is underlined and the important words in it are capitalized.
Characters, Setting & Plot	Beginning The summary is too short to include the important parts.	Developing It is clear who the characters are, but it is unclear what their problem was or how their problem got solved.<BR> The summary includes more information than needed.	Meets expectations It is clear who the characters are, where they are and how their problem was solved. The summary only includes important information.
Grammar	Beginning There are almost no periods, or the periods are put in the wrong place.	Developing There are some periods but also many run on sentences.	Meets expectations There are periods where there need to be.
