Treble Clef

Surpasses Expectations

Student easily names and notates all notes on the treble clef staff including two notes above and below the staff.
Meets Expectations

Student can identify and draw the Treble Clef Lines and Spaces
Some Understanding

Student understands the placement of the treble clef and is able to name some of the notes and place or draw some of them on the staff.
Little or No Understanding

Student cannot identify or notate any of the notes on the Treble Clef.
Bass Clef

Surpasses Expectations

Student can easily identifies and notate notes on the Bass clef including two notes above and below the staff.
Meets Expectations

Student can successfully draw and place the Bass Clef correctly on the staff and can identify all lines and spaces of the Bass Clef.
Some Understanding

Student is able to name some of the Bass Clef notes and can place or draw some notes on the staff.
Little or No Understanding

Student cannot identify or notate any of the notes on the bass clef.
Dynamics

Surpasses Expectations

Student can notate and identify all dynamics including their corresponding Italian terms.
Meets Expectations

Student can notate and identify all dynamic levels (including crescendo and decrescendo). Student can appropriately assign these dynamic levels to selected passages of music).
Some Understanding

Student can identify differences in levels of dynamics including gradual changes and know some dynamic notations.
Little or No Understanding

Student shows no understanding of the concept of use or notation of dynamics in music.
