Malay Karaoke Competition

The following rubric is to be used for the karaoke competition. Contestants are expected to sing with pitch and rhythmic accuracy, good projection, clear articulation, proper tone quality and creative expression.

Pitch	Excellent All pitches are correct. Starting point is always on pitch and clear. Singing matches throughout the whole melody in the low and high parts and it stay in a key.	Good The vocal line follow the melodic contour, but there are few off pitch parts, sometimes too high or too low.	Regular Singing doesn't match the melody, but there are few vocal parts on pitch.	Poor Pitches are not clear. It sounds almost like speaking.
Rhythm	Excellent All rhythms were properly on the beat and of proper length	Good Most of the rhythms were on the beat and proper length, but there are too long or too short sounds.	Regular Most of the rhythms were of the beat and proper length.	Poor Rhythm is not clear.
Lyrics/Articulation	Excellent All the words are clear and lyrics are easy to understand	Good The lyrics are understandable, but there are one or few words that are not clear.	Regular The words are not clear, but one or few parts are understandable.	Poor The words are not clear.
Tone quality	Excellent Voice has a pleasing and beautiful tone. It sounds naturally and free.	Good Most of the time voice sounds naturally and free, But there are one or few parts when voice gets too harsh, or too nasally, or too breathy.	Regular Most of the time voice sounds too harsh, or too nasally, or too breathy, but there are few naturally pleasing sounds.	Poor Voice is not naturally pleasing. The tone is either too harsh, too nasally or too breathy.
Posture/Expression	Excellent A posture was naturally maintained with balanced feet on the floor, hands on sides, relaxed shoulders and head. All gestures are aligned with the lyrics of the song and they help to express the mood of the music.
