Lab: Finding the Area of Irregular Shapes

Students will demonstrate their knowledge of measuring irregular shapes for their area. Students will use dependent and independent variables to conduct a lab. They will then calculate the area and graph the differences in their samples.

Good Students followed all instructions. Students asked for help when needed. Students also demonstrated proper equations and arithmetic for various irregular shapes.	Excellent Students exceeded teacher's expectations. There were no mistakes in the procedure, equations, or arithmetic. Students assisted other groups with procedures.
Participation	Poor Students were not involved with their group members or the lab. They did not participate in group discussions.	Fair Students seemed somwhated engaged, but were off-task for part of the lab. They offered insights only when asked, or did not discuss aspects of the procedure and results frequently or willingly.	Good Students were actively engaged in all aspects of the lab. They worked well with their group members and offered their insights about the procedure and results.	Excellent Students exceeded teacher's expectations. Students discussed lab procedure and results using appropriate vocabulary. They worked well with their group and other groups in the classroom.
