Background Information

Student conducts appropriate biographical research from designated locations. MLA formated sources slide should be included.

Excellent

Obviously thorough research conducted. Excellent biographical information covering the poet's life including their early/late lives, what they believed, what they wrote about, popular titles, etc. Sources slide present and correctly formatted.
Good

Adequate research shown, presentation is lacking one or two of the elements of an 'Excellent'. Sources slide present, format problems.
Poor

Poor research obvious, more than two areas missing or poorly covered. No source slide.
PowerPoint Presentation

Student creates a visually pleasing presentation of the life of the poet.

Excellent

PowerPoint uses a mininum of two backgrounds and 10 slides. Detail is excellent, and the presentation is visually appealing.
Good

Presentation contains fewer than 10 slides, or seems hastily put together or overly childish.
Poor

Presentation has fewer than 10 slides, or is poorly put together/formatted.

The poem is analyzed in terms of Title, Paraphrase of meaning, and Connotation of any poetic elements present. This analysis is complete and explained well to the class.

The poem is analyzed in terms of Title/Paraphrase/and Connotation in basic terms, or unclearly/incompletely explained to the class.

Poem incompletely analyzed, or lack of understanding of the poem is evident.
