	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Conventions	Good Paper is in paragraph form, using indenting, correct spelling and capitalization. Answers are written in complete sentences.	Fair Paper most shows the conventions of a good essay: Paper is in paragraph form, using indenting, correct spelling and capitalization. Answers are written in complete sentences.	Poor Paper is written without regard to paragraph form, spelling and capitalization. Some is present, but one or more convention is totally missing through the paper.
ACE Graphic Organizer	Good Completely fill out graphic organizer to help with the writing of the paper. Information related to the topic and is clearly stated.	Fair Graphic organizer is partially filled out, but most information is complete and relates to the topic.	Poor Graphic organizer isn't used or does not have information in one or more sections. It also may just have brief notes.
A-Answer	Good A - Clearly answers the question in the first line of writing and in a complete sentence.	Fair Answers the question, but not in a complete sentence. Reader must make inference to understand what the writer is saying.	Poor Answer is unclear or not present.
C - Cites Evidence	Good C - Clearly cites text evidence that supports the answer to the question. Uses quotes appropriately or refer to the text in a specific place.	Fair Makes reference to the text but there are no quotation marks or specific reference to text placement. Not all cited text evidence relates to the answer given.	Poor No text cited or cited text does not support the answer given for the question.
E - Explain	Good Clearly explains how cited text relates to the reason being given to answer the question.	Fair Explains cited text but the text does not accurately relate to the answer to the question.	Poor No explanation provided for cited text.
Neatness	Good Handwriting can be clearly read.	Fair Handwriting is somewhat sloppy but can be read to evaluate the answer.	Poor Handwriting is unreadable.
