Rhythmic Accuracy	Unsatisfactory Most of the rhythms are performed incorrectly.	Needs Improvement Some basic rhythms are performed correctly; however, has challenges with some rhythms.	Satisfactory Most of the rhythms are performed correctly, with few errors.	Outstanding Confidently performs all rhythms correctly.
Creating Music	Unsatisfactory Student has great trouble composing or improvising music and needs much help from the teacher.	Needs Improvement Student has some trouble composing or improvising music and needs a little help from the teacher.	Satisfactory Given a framework, student can compose or improvise music with little help from the teacher and can perform it correctly with few errors.	Outstanding Given a framework, student can independently and with great creativity compose or improvise music with and can perform it correctly.
Movement	Unsatisfactory Student experiences great difficulty moving in time with the beat and does not perform choreographed motions.	Needs Improvement Student sometimes moves in time with the beat and often forgets choreographed motions.	Satisfactory Student usually moves in time with the beat and correctly performs choreographed motions.	Outstanding Student always moves in time with the beat and has mastered the choreographed motions.
Classroom Effort and Behavior	Unsatisfactory Student is generally distracted and may be a distraction to the entire class. Teacher reminds student continually about what is expected during a class.	Needs Improvement Student is on task and giving effort 50% of the time. Teacher frequently reminds this student about what is expected during class. After the reminder, the student regains focus.	Satisfactory Student is on task and giving effort 80% of the time. Teacher gives an occasional reminder to this student about what is expected during class.
