Ideal A

Perfectly trimmed 2-3mm short of the depth of the vestibule.
NOTE: Tray should cover the tuberosities (hamular notches) and retromolar pad.

Tray more than 1-2 mm Over-extended or underextended

Ideal A

Size

Handle rest should perfectly fit the students thumb. Perpendicular to ridge and 15mm wide and 22mm in length.

Too large (more than 30mm long and more than 25mm wide)

Palate of the tray is closely adapted to the cast

Small space, less than 2mm, between the tray and cast
Modifications C

There are no modifications for this criteria.
Clinically unacceptable E

Tray prevents clinically acceptable impression. Inadequate adaptation to ridge/palate of the cast
Wax Blockout

Ideal A

Slight, thin blockout of the undercuts. Ideally wax is 1-2mm thick.
NOTE: tray/handles residual blockouts were removed neat and clean
Acceptable B

Blockout does not interfere with the adaptation, but wax is slightly thicker than ideal.
Modifications C

has residual wax blockout that interferes with the tray adaptation. Wax not removed, has debris and not neat and clean
Clinically unacceptable E

Tray prevents clinically acceptable impression. Inadequate wax blockout too thick Wax not removed, has debris and not neat and clean
