Locomotor Skills K & 1 
Identifies locomotor movement patterns within pathways and extensions. Directions: The teacher will demonstrate basic locomotor skills around in general space. Use this rubric to score each student's accomplishments of locomotor skills. Students will perform 4 different locomotor skills from the list fir a short distance. Add each locomotor skill performed from 1-4, then add totals at the end with total of 16.

Walks or run. Back foot crosses front foot. Turns to side. Gallops with no more than 1 break in action for
entire task, turns and gallops back to the start, with other
foot leading.
Meeting the standard

Gallops with the essential elements of a mature pattern for entire task:
a) same foot leading.
b) forward orientation. c) moment of non-support.
d) back foot does not move in front of lead foot.
Excells at the standard

Non-support gallop, leads with 1 foot. Gallops smoothly, with continuous action with each foot
leading.

Performs hopping action correctly for one but not the other foot.

Hops, taking off from one foot and landing on the same foot. Performs action on other foot.

Jumps with smooth, balanced action. Displays all the essential elements of a mature pattern, with fluid motion.
