The Big Issue 
Create a PowerPoint presentation about an Issue you care about. The Presentation should comprise mostly images, rather than words. Look for images that illustrate/dramatize the issue, think about why this issue is of interest to you personally, what actions would you like to see undertaken to address this issue. Use transitions, animation and appropriate music.

Planning

Average

The student has completed all or most of the planing requirements to a fairly good standard.
Below average

The student has completed all or most of the planning requirements but to a lower standard.

The student has failed to complete half or less of the planning requirements and the standard is low.
Size and scope of Presentation

The presentation should adequately cover the topic in 25 to 30 slides

Excellent

The presentation covers a range of issues related to the central topic in 25 to 30 slides.
Above average

The presentation covers a range of issues related to the central topic but is too long or too short by a margin of five slides.
Average

The presentation covers a range of issues related to the central topic but is too long or too short by a margin of ten slides.
Below average

The presentation covers only the central issues related to the topic and is too long or too short by a margin of 5 to 10 slides.
Poor

The presentation fails to address the topic and is too short by a margin of more than 10 slides.
Presentation structure

The presentation should follow a coherent structure with a clear Introduction, detailed elaboration of the issue and a satisfying conclusion

The presentation is very well structured with detailed, coverage of the issue, and ends with a coherent conclusion.
Above average

The presentation is well structured with quite detailed coverage of the issue and ends with a coherent conclusion.
Average

The presentation is reasonably well structured and but lacks detail in the elaboration of the issue, however the conclusion is essentially coherent.
Below average

The presentation lacks a coherent structure and ignores key areas of the issue in question. The conclusion is somewhat unsatisfying.
Poor

The structure of the presentation is incoherent. The topic is not covered in detail and the conclusions are not consistent with the information discussed.
Grapics, transitions and music

The presentation should comprise engaging, high quality images, linked through a range of transitions and animations. Background music should be appropriate to the subject of the presentation

A very wide range of quality images that illustrate the topic perfectly. A good selection of transitions and animations and music that is empathic with the subject under discussion
Above average

A good selection of quality images appropriate to the topic. Engaging use of transitions and animations and satisfying choice of background music.
Average

A reasonably good selection of images of acceptable quality. Some use of transitions and animations. A not inappropriate choice of background music
Below average

Too few images, or images that are not directly relevant to the topic or some poor quality images. Minimal use of transitions and animations, poor choice of background music
Poor

Too few images that are also not directly relevant to the topic and of poor quality. No or minimal use of transitions and animations, very poor choice of background music
Spoken presentation

The spoken presentation should be well coordinated with the images and delivered from memory rather than notes. The presentation should take five minutes.

Excellent

An excellent spoken presentation that perfectly compliments the images. The student speaks confidently from memory with no recourse to written notes. The presentation is concluded within a margin of 30 seconds of the allotted time
Above average

A good spoken presentation that is well coordinated with the images on display. The student speaks confidently from memory with only minimal recourse to written notes. The presentation is concluded within 45 seconds of the allotted time
Average

A reasonable presentation, quite well coordinated with the images shown. The student speaks clearly but with frequent reference to written notes. The presentation is concluded within no more than 90 seconds of the allowed time.
Below average

An unsatisfying presentation. some disparity between the spoken presentation and the images shown. The student too frequently refers to written notes and the presentation exceeds the permitted time frame.
Poor

A poor spoken presentation that does not adequately explain the images or the issue in question. And/or, a presentation delivered almost entirely from written notes.
