Tone	Exceeds Student showed complete understanding of the overall tone/mood of the epic and was able to translate it to their found poem.	Met Student showed basic understanding of the overall tone/mood of the epic and was able to translate it somewhat to their found poem.	Partially Met Student showed slight understanding of the overall tone/mood of the epic but it was weakly translated in their found poem.	Lacking Student presented a tone in their found poem however it did not match an overall tone or feeling presented in the epic.	Emerging Student attempted but is still lacking the basic knowledge of the term tone and the ability to presented it in the poem.	Not Met There was no tone represented in the found poem.
Form	Exceeds The student had fifteen or more lines in their poem.	Met The student had fourteen or thirteen lines in their found poem.	Partially Met The student had thirteen - twelve lines in their found poem.	Lacking The student had eleven - ten lines and one stanza in the found poem.	Emerging The student used nine - eight lines in their found poem.	Not Met There were only seven or less lines used in the found poem.
Found Words/Lines	Exceeds All lines used came from epic. There were only five of the student's own words used in the poem to connect or enhance ideas.	Met All lines used came from the epic, but the student may have used more words of his/her own to connect or enhance the ideas.	Partially Met All lines used came from epic but the student appears to have relied more on his/her own words more and gone over the five word limit.
