Non verbals	Poor Needs moderate cues and support to identify nonverbal cues including gestures, intonation and expression	Fair Student is able to identify nonverbal cues including gestures, intonation and expression within a structured setting.	Good Student is able to identify nonverbal cues including gestures, intonation and expression within a social or academic setting.	Excellent Able to identify nonverbal cues including gestures, intonation and expression and use that information to change actions, language or tone of voice appropriately.
Clarity	Poor Student has frequent sound errors, incorrect volume or pacing within conversation.	Fair Student has occasion sound errors and needs reminders for appropriate volume or pace.	Good Student has occasional developmental sound errors that are minimally impactful.	Excellent Student consistently articulates all developmental sounds, use correct volume for the situation and repair conversational appropriately.
Following Conversational Rules	Poor Student is unable to follow conversational rules as demonstrated by blurting out or not participating.	Fair With significant structure, the student will participate in a conversation with at least 50% of utterances being appropriate and/or adding to the conversation.	Good Unstructured, the student will participate in a conversation with at least 50% of utterances being appropriate and/or adding to the conversation.	Excellent Unstructured, the student will participate in a conversation with at least 80% of utterances being appropriate and/or adding to the conversation.
Inferencing	Poor With prompting, support and multiple choices, student is able to accurately respond to less then 50% of inferential questions.	Fair With moderate support student is 50-70% accurate in responding to inferential questions	Good With moderate support student is 70-90% accurate in responding to inferential questions	Excellent Student is able to respond to inferential questions independently with at least 80% accuracy.
