Chords Students must distinguish whether the chords being played are Major, Minor, Augmented, or Diminished.	Emerging Student distinguished 0-2 chords correctly.	Developing Student distinguished 3-4 chords correctly.	Effective Student distinguished 5-6 chords correctly.	Strong Student distinguished 7-8 chords correctly.
Melody Students must write the melody they hear on the given staff, with the correct notation, rhythm, and beats.	Emerging Student was able to identify 0-7 correct notes and/or notation beats and rhythm.	Developing Student was able to identify 8-16 correct notes and/or notation beats and rhythm.	Effective Student was able to identify 17-24 correct notes and/or notation beats and rhythm.	Strong Student was able to identify 25-32 correct notes and/or notation beats and rhythm.
Sight Reading Student will be given a short piece with 6 measures (Treble and Bass Clef) and must be able to play it on the piano.	Emerging Student was able to play 0-3 measures correct.	Developing Student was able to play 4-6 measures correct.	Effective Student was able to play 7-9 measures correct.	Strong Student was able to play 10-12 measures correct.
Composing Student must compose their own melody with a minimum of 4 measures.	Emerging Student had the correct notation with the corresponding time signature and had a minimum of 1 measures. -or- Student did not have the correct notation with the corresponding time signature with 0-2 measures	Developing Student had the correct notation with the corresponding time signature and had a minimum of 2 measures. -or- Student did not have the correct notation with the corresponding time signature with 3-4 measures	Effective Student had the correct notation with the corresponding time signature and had a minimum of 3 measures.	Strong Student had the correct notation with the corresponding time signature and had a minimum of 4 measures.
