Repetition is not used with selected motif	Needs Improvement Project is deficient in overall design such as too big, too small, no detail, unbalanced, disproportionate. Motif is not well structured or designed.	Good Basic design balances and good flow to all sides. All parts create unity. Good use of design motif as assigned in class.	Excellent Outstanding form and . good creativity. Student went above and beyond. Excellent work on distinctive work of art. This work sets you apart form the rest of the class.
Wet Work/Craftsmanship	Minimal Student did minimal work and/or no evidence of effort.	Needs Improvement Overall construction has flaws such as cracks, warping, dents, visible seams, clay is too thick or too thin, rough edges. May lack the use of slip and score technique for joining clay.	Good Construction is sound and functional without obvious flaws, edges are smooth, and parts are neatly trimmed.Basic design balances and good flow to all sides. All parts create unity.	Excellent Outstanding construction indicated by artistic use of clay's plasticity to enhance form and construction technique. No apparent flaws.
Glaze	Minimal Student needs to work on developing successful, well planned work, minimal evidence of commitment to project.	Needs Improvement Project has glazing defiencies such as too thick or too thin application, drips, uneven coverage. Bisque showing through in parts. Too much color experimentation with out thought to color and design.	Good Thought given to the glazing process. Enhanced textures, even coat -Use of color theory...such as analogous, neutrals complementary colors are evident...Good overall coverage.	Excellent Outstanding Glaze. Creative...thought given to enhancing the form and texture ...set apart from the rest. Outstanding color work and knowledge of color theory is evident.
Participation/ Work Ethic	Minimal Minimal participation. Unprepared and did not clean up his/her work area.	Needs Improvement Student does a fair job of of setting up for project at the beginning of class, but still needs to be reminded of what is needed for project. Student does a fair job of cleaning, but still leaves 30% of work in his/her area for others to deal with.	Good Student does a good job of setting up. Does not waste time and devotes 100% of his/her time to clean up as well.	Excellent Student is efficient and organized in setting up for assignment. Goes above and beyond in this category assisting and initiating peers to get started and clean up. Scans studio before leaving to see if anything has been left out for the next class.
