Well balanced composition with a variety of sizes of negative space filled with highly developed patterns. Variety of value within the patterns. Pen adds perfect focal point.
B
Some variety of pattern and details. Line placement is visually pleasing with particular attention paid to the rule of thirds.
C
Piece is complete but lacks balance and emphasis. Patterns are too simple and need embellishments. Rule of thirds is not followed.
D
Composition is non existent. Little detail and no direction is present.

Skillful use of materials for shapes and value. Very neat with little smears or smudges. Colored Pen was included giving one line emphasis as a focal point.

Piece is good but has room for improvement, could be too dark or too too light.

Piece is neat and has some value incorporated. A little difficult to see a clear representation of the negative space of the lines.

Little detail or distinguishing qualities in your piece. More development is needed.

Productive and almost always on task. Very rarely needed to be refocused on the task at hand. Followed all classroom procedures including all aspects of the code of honor.

Mostly productive and talked some but followed classroom procedures most of the time with little reminding.

Did not always pay attention to the task at hand. Spent more time talking than working. Poor productivity. Possibly a detention given for poor behavior.

Zentangle Patterns

A
Patterns are zentangles created from the website, provided support material or a book. It was done mostly in black pen (G2) with some value added by pencil. A wide variety of value is used.
B
Most of the patterns are zentangles as they were intended. A few variations can be found but the changes did not negatively impact the design. Some variety of value is used.
C
There are lines and shapes used to create patterns in the negative space but are not as fully developed as required. There is some variety of value.
D
The negative space is filled but there is a lack of patterning in the shapes and lines. Few zentangles are clear to see. Not much variety of value used.
