Students are required to create their own dances, in groups no larger than four students. Dance routines are required to be one minute in duration. Dance moves learned in class, i.e. turns, leaps, formation changes, tricks, and canon's should be used

Technical skills

Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance. Did not include any technique that was required.

Only some understanding of technical elements demonstrated in performance. Has only included some technique that was required in this choreography
Acceptable

Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet. Has included in the dance the required technique.
Good

Dance is performed with attention to the technique that was required for the dance and also included technique that was not manditory to use. Has an understanding of the style.
Excellent

Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Has included all required technique and has obtained proficiency in other technique areas
Rhythm/Tempo

Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.
Fair

Shows basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up or makes errors in rhythm most of the time.
Acceptable

Shows an understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or spees up or makes errors in rhythm a few times.
Good

Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences most of the time.
Excellent

Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythmn throughout the dance.
Overall Performance

Poor

Students have made little to no effort for performance. (I.E quality of movement, eye contact with audience)
Fair

Students have shown some effort in their performance. Small movements with some eye contact with the audience or other dancers.
Acceptable

Students have generally made an effort through out the dance. Quality of movement varies through out the dance as well as some eye contact made through out.
Good

Students have made a sufficient effort through out the dance to focus on the quality of their movements and have also made an effort to look up through out the performance
Excellent

Students have performed the dance with great detail to the quality of movement and making sure each member has made the same effort. Students look at their audience or group members through out the dance
