Math Sales Tax BCR
Question: Academy Sports is having a sale. They are running an advertisement that all items are 40% off. They are offering an extra 35% off of all shoes. I found a new pair of shoes for $68. I feel that the cashier over charged me. When I calculated this I thought the shoes should be $17, but she claims that the sale is the equivalent of 61% off. Is the cashier correct? Why or why not? How much should I have been charged pre-tax? Explain how you found this answer.
