Presentation ineffectively engages students. Discussion falls flat due to presentor difficulties.
Partially meets standards

Presentor has some difficulty leading the discussion but shows some skill as a facilitator.
Meets standards

Presentor is a good discussion leader. May need more follow-up questions, to engage students more, or to engage more students.
Exceeds standards

Presentor effectively engages students in discussion of topic. Listens well and responds appropriately. Uses follow-up questions to expand the discussion. Encourages all students to participate.
Quality of questions/discussion

Does not meet standards

Questions need more work; topic covered inadequately.
Partially meets standards

Some good questions, but may need more in-depth questions and/or an increase in the number of questions to effectively cover the topic.
Meets standards

Very good choice of questions. Key points are highlighted; topic is covered well.
Exceeds standards

Insightful, appropriate, and in-depth questions which lead to a thorough and useful discussion of the topic.
Use of French

Does not meet standards

French is used very little or not at all.
Partially meets standards

Some French is used, but presentor may frequently resort to English. Use of French may be inaccurate and/or difficult to follow.
Meets standards

French is used well and appropriately. Errors do not affect comprehensibility. Presentor encourages the use of French by class members.
Exceeds standards

Good quality French is used throughout the presentation. English is avoided through examples, descriptions, drawings, etc. en français whenever possible.
Overall impression

Does not meet standards

Presentation clearly needs more work. Presentor ineffectively completed the task.
Partially meets standards

Presentor did a fair job overall, but may have had some inaccuracies, omissions, or other difficulties in the presentation.
Meets standards

Presentor did a fine job. Students clearly benefited from the discussion.
Exceeds standards

Presentor did an outstanding job. May have shown particular creativity, pedagogical skill, or insight.
