Time and effort
A
Class time was used wisely. Much time and effort went into the planning and design of the piece. It is clear the student worked in and out of class-developing design, then using class time to complete in time stated on outline.
B
Acceptable use of time for the most part. Student was productive, but perhaps could have put in more time and effort in work. Student could have developed sketches/design more, student could have exerted more effort.
C
Class time was not always used wisely, but student did complete project, perhaps not on time. Some class time was wasted.
D
Class time was not used wisely and the student put in little effort. Student did not create piece to the best of his/her ability. sTudent did other classwork.
Creativity/Design Development
A
Completely original. Student has taken the technique being studied/chosen and applied it in a way that is totally his/her own.
The student's personality/ style comes through. The work is unique, not a copy!
B
Student has taken the technique being studied and has used source material as a starting place. Some risk taking is evident. The student's personality comes through in parts of the pottery.
Design concept is in sketchbook.
C
Student has copied some of the design from the source material. There is little evidence of creativity, but the student has done the assignment.
Has a sketch, but not detailed. No notes or alternate ideas.
D
Student has not made much attempt to meet the requirements of the assignment. Student did not stretch themselves artistically, learn, or try anything new.
No sketches present for the work.
Use of materials/Clean Up
A
Student cleans up everyday and return all tools. You clean the wedging table when you wedge. You help others if needed. you are never reminded to return tools, or clean up after yourself. You respect this classroom everyday. You help others and clean other areas without being told or asked. Respect!
B
Student typically adequately cleans materials and work area at the end of the session. Student shows respect for materials and fellow students. Student doesn't go out of the way to help others or clean community items (tables, buckets, etc)
C
Student adequately cleans and takes care of materials if reminded. Occasionally, the work area is messy. Shows some respect for materials and fellow students. Sometimes tools or equipment is borrowed and not put away,tools are not cleaned or returned.
Teacher has reminded student to clean up.
D
Student deliberately misuses materials AND/OR does not adequately clean materials or area when reminded. Shows little respect for materials or fellow students. Tools and supplies are wasted or used improperly. Teacher has to remind student to clean up area more than once.
Skill / Craftsmanship
A
Student has used more than one hand-building technique and presented a piece that is detailed, balanced, smooth, has even thickness, and shows evidence of time spent. The student experimented with surface texture, decoration, added elements,

The clay piece and is smooth and orderly. Detail has been skillfully added to enhance the piece. The student experimented some with the surface, form, and attempted to progress from previous works. Some surface experimentation has been added.
C
The clay piece is complete, and is smooth and orderly, but no progress from previous work, based on self-reflection. Student is not open to new ideas or new techniques, or chooses not to improved.
D
The clay piece does not use the techniques appropriately and is uneven or sloppy, in general no care or concern is evident, or piece is unfinished.

B
Student finished on time and turned in rubric according to project outline/teacher. Student begins work on new project idea, after reminder. Student labels project.
C
Student did not meet the deadline. The project is not finished due to student negligence and not firing schedules.
The project doesn't have a rubric, due to incompletion. Explain here:
D
Incomplete. More than a week late., without cause.
