Size and Shape

ACCOMPLISHED-EXCELLENT

The incense holder/burner is stable and an appropriate size for either the stick or cone. The size and shape were well thought out before creating the piece. The shape is consistent, even thickness, and smooth or as purposeful texture/markings. It's neat and free of unwanted lumps, seams, marks, and cracks.The incense fits appropriately.
SKILLED- GOOD

The incense holder/burner is stable with a little wobble. The size is appropriate for the design. The shape could have been a little more consistent with thickness and smoothing over. It has a few flaws: cracks, lumps, and or indents. The artist could have taken a little more time with apply textures/markings (subtractive method). Incense fits pretty well.
EMERGING - AVERAGE

The incense holder/burner has some wobble and consistency to it. Size is a bit off for the design. Shape needed a little more attention. Some unwanted unevenness, texture, and markings.
LIMITED - POOR

The size and shape are not correct for this design. The shape needed much more effort. Piece looks messy and rushed due to shaping issues.
DESIGN/creativity

ACCOMPLISHED-EXCELLENT

The incense burner/holder shows that the student took great pride in their work. The design looks carefully thought and planned out. The artist was extremely unique when planning their piece. The design is original and executed very well.
SKILLED- GOOD

The piece shows that the student planned out a piece with a specific idea and design, however it wasn't entirely original and creative. The design was done with little error.
EMERGING - AVERAGE

The design had good intentions, but the artist struggled with making it three dimensional. The design was somewhat basic and straight forward without a whole lot of creativity.

The design is messy and hard to follow..
Craftsmanship

ACCOMPLISHED-EXCELLENT

The student used time wisely, took extremely good care of their piece, and the piece looks finished and completely without any unwanted damages.
SKILLED- GOOD

The student used their time pretty wisely, took pretty good care of their piece, and the piece looks finished and completely with very little unwanted damages.
EMERGING - AVERAGE

The student could have used their time better. The piece looks slightly unfinished and has a decent amount of unwanted damages and finishes.
LIMITED - POOR

The piece was rushed and not taken care of very well. Things were done in a sloppy manner without much consideration.
GLAZING

ACCOMPLISHED-EXCELLENT

Glaze application is even and has the correct amount of coats.
Glaze and/or Underglaze has been applied correctly and neatly.
SKILLED- GOOD

Glaze application is correct but thin in some areas. Glaze and/or Underglaze have a few flaws (color mixing, drawing marks cannot be seen well)

Glaze application is incorrect or incomplete.
Sketchbook

ACCOMPLISHED-EXCELLENT

Sketchbook pre-thinking process was done in a very organized manner and upload. The student has three sketches that are well thought out with pictures drawn and process written down.
SKILLED- GOOD

Sketchbook pre-thinking process was uploaded and done in an organized manner. Student has pictures, but no processes written down.
EMERGING - AVERAGE

Pre-thinking process is partially completed. Sketches are very basic and quickly drawn, leaving the artist with not much planning on how to make it three dimensional.
LIMITED - POOR

There is no pre-thinking or skteches.
