Basketball- students will dribble the ball with both hands, students will shoot the basketball, students will show competency during a game situation.

Shoot Basketball	Limited Has no concept of how to shoot a basketball.	Basic -Student cannot shoot the ball successfully. -Student does not follow through. -Student uses two hands to shoot	Sound -Student can sometimes shoot the ball successfully. -Student sometimes follows through. -Student uses two hands instead of one to shoot. -Can only shoot from in front of the hoop	High -Student shoots the ball correctly. -Student follows through. -Student is usually successful in shooting from multiple angles	Outstanding -Shoots the ball off the dribble -Can catch and shoot -Is usually successful under pressure situations -Can shoot from multiple angles including 3 pointers
Dribble Basketball	Limited Has no concept of how to dribble a basketball.	Basic Student seldomly dribbles the basketball with control while moving -Dribbles with palm of hand and head down -Rigid stance, knees not bent.	Sound Student can dribble the basketball while moving -Does not have good control -Cannot dribble with head up -Sometimes dribbles with finger pads	High Student can dribble the basketball with good control and proper positioning -Student dribbles with head up -Student dribbles with finger pads, knees bent -Able to pivot while dribbling	Outstanding -Is confident dribbling with preferred hand and attempts non-preferred in drills. -Dribbles with head up -Shows above average ball-handling
Game Play	Limited Has no concept of how to play a game of basketball.	Basic -Student rarely follows the rules of basketball. Defense	Limited Has no concept of how to play with defensive strategy in a game of basketball.	Basic -Student cannot move feet and contain player -Poor foot work -Student is never involved in the play -Does not understand the concept of defence	Sound -Student sometimes gets involved in defense -Occasionally shows different defensive skills such as zoning, marking a player	High -Understands defensive concepts ie zoning, marking a player -Jumps to the ball -Plays team zone defense and communicates with team.	Outstanding -Sees Ball/man and applies pressure -understands zone defence -Is consistently involved in the defensive aspect of the game -communicates clearly with team members and aids in leading the team defensive positioning
Offense	Limited Has no concept of how to play with offensive strategy in a game of basketball.	Basic - Student has limited understanding of attack positioning or their role within it. -rarely passes and moves to effective position for scoring	Sound - Is able to articulate where they should stand in a 5 out offensive strategy according to court markings and sometimes demonstrates this in a game. -can use voice to indicate they want the pass.	High - knows and sets up a 5 out system to begin offensive play -Can pass and cut to a new position - demonstrates awareness of restructuring the tam offensive. - communicates successfully with team members.	Outstanding -Student consistently seeks opportunity to pass and cut with awareness of timing and shooting opportunities. -Is consistently aware of other team players and the need to restructure the offense. - Communicates confidently and clearly with team members.
