Preperation 50 points	Poor Student does not come to class discussion having read and annotated the story, without appropriate notes, textbook, and entrance ticket.	Fair Student comes to class discussion having read and annotated the story, completed the entrance ticket, but forgot notes and/or textbook.	Good Student comes to class discussion prepared by having read and annotate the story, completed the entrance ticket, and having appropriate notes and textbook.
Participation 25 points	Poor Student does not respond to the questions, does not discuss with classmates, and does not answer when called upon. Student is doing something other than joining the class discussion. Student does not follow guidelines for class/group discussion.	Fair Student responds when called directly by a teacher or classmate, but does not volunteer ideas on their own. Student gives their own opinion/interpretation but does not build or challenge other students' ideas. Student follows guidelines for class discussion.	Good Student voluntarily shares ideas and opinions in a respectful manner. Student builds on or challenges ideas from other students. Student follows guidelines for class/group discussion. Student uses good eye contact while speaking.
Reflection 25 points	Poor Student does not respond to Final Thoughts. Student writes a response to the Final Thoughts, but their reflection does not address the prompt. Student does not meet the 5 sentence minimum.	Fair Student responds to the Final Thoughts, but there is no evidence that they used details from the discussion in their reflection. Student meets the 5 sentence minimum.	Good Student responds to the Final Thoughts prompt and reflects on what they learned, citing specific details from the class discussion. Student meets and exceeds the 5 sentence minimum.
