Foundations Clay Vessel 
Students will create a sculpture out of clay that can contain something in some way. This vessel should be based on a memory and what, or how it contains can be related to that personal connection.

The idea and the creation in 3D were intentional and made sense for the required material. The student has considered the details that are needed to make this look realistic and identifiable.

Sculpting Requirements and Procedures

The sculpture had to have some opening to contain an object of student's choice. The student interpreted their vessel in a 3D manner and was careful to score slip and consider clay thickness for the success of their project.

Appears as though the student paid little attention to the criteria that was covered at the beginning of the assignment.

The student did not cover all of the criteria expected for this project.

Craftsmanship

Student made intensional choices and carefully worked on the sculpting of the clay, the drying process, and the finish of their project including paint and sealing.

Student was focused during studio time. They were considerate of the clay drying time, working and clean up procedures. They complete the required clay up and care for clay appropriately.

Did not follow any studio, clay, or clean-up procedures.

Did not use class time effectively did not follow clean-up or clay care procedures.
Good

Used some class time effectively and did not disturb others. followed almost all of the procedures with clay in the art room.

Used all class time effectively and followed all procedures with clay in the art room.
