Pinning and Cutting	Proficient Pinning was consistent during cutting and construction. Cutting was smooth, accurate and contributed to a superior quality product.	Good Pinning was accurate in most cases. Cutting is accurate with some jagged edges.	Developing Pinning was not always utilized during construction. Some cutting is not accurate.	Needs Improvement Pinning not effective. Cutting is not accurate and affects construction.
Seams and Construction	Proficient All seams sewn straight with proper seam allowance, back-stitched, with smooth seam finishes. The thread used matched the background color of the fabric so the stitches were well hidden. The bobbin thread was the same color as the top thread. No holes in project.	Good Few errors with seam allowances, back-stitching, and smooth seam finishes.The thread used was similar the the fabric background color so the stitches were only slightly noticeable. The bobbin thread was the same color as the top thread. No holes in project.	Developing Several errors with seam allowances, back-stitching, and smooth seam finishes. The thread used did not match the background color and the stitches were very obvious, but the bobbin thread was the same color as the top thread. Some small holes are present.	Needs Improvement Little attention to seam allowances, back-stitching, and smooth seam finishes. The thread used did not match the fabric at all and/or the bobbin thread was a different color than the top thread. Obvious holes are present.
Appearance	Proficient Project construction was correctly shaped and aligned. Seams match correctly. The project has a polished look and is pleasing to the eye.	Good Project has few problems with shaping and alignment. Seams intersect closely. The project has been completed with attention to detail.	Developing The project has some problems with shaping and alignment. Seams may be obviously mismatched. The project is lacking visual appeal in some areas.	Needs Improvement The project has problematic areas with shaping and alignment. Seam matching is not appropriate. Visually, the project is not pleasing.
Corners/Opening Left for Fiber-fill	Proficient All 4 corners are identical, fully pushed out with a stick or sharpie and filled with fiber-fill. The opening was left in an inconspicuous location	Good The corners are somewhat alike, most are pushed out with sufficient fiber-fill. The opening was adequate.	Developing One or two of the corners need improvement. The fiber-fill was not properly pushed into the corners. The opening was not in the corner, but was not on the bottom seam so it cannot be seen.	Needs Improvement None of the corners are alike. Student did not take the time to make well constructed corners Opening was in the corner. Students were specifically instructed to NOT put the opening in the corner.
Hand Stitching	Proficient Hand stitching techniques demonstrated on pillow are of high quality. All techniques are done properly and with skill. The tread knots were not obvious. The opening was hard to locate because the student was successful in hiding the area.	Good Most hand stitching techniques demonstrated in pillow are of good quality. The stitching or thread knotting had a few problems.	Developing Many hand stitching techniques demonstrated on pillow opening require improvement. Stitches were too large in some places or they were messy and noticeable. There were some problems with the thread knotting.	Needs Improvement Student showed evidence that they did not intend to follow directions in completing the final step of their pillow
Time Management	Proficient Project was completed on time or early. Student used class time efficently and stayed on task.	Good Student effectively used class time and remained on task with few reminders.	Developing Class time was not always used efficiently and student was often off task or needed reminders to stay on task.	Needs Improvement Student did not use class time efficiently and required many reminders to stay on task.
