Rubric: French Video Project 
This rubric is designed for a French video presentation performance assessment in which the students will be presenting vocabulary and grammar concepts from the entire year. Students are being graded both individually and as a group. The skit must be videotaped in French, with subtitles in English, and uploaded on the website tcafrenchfilm.tk

1. Pronunciation

Poor 1-2

Student pronounced 7 or more words incorrectly, with little effort for correction.
Fair 3-5

Student pronounced 5-6 words incorrectly, with some effort for correction.

Student pronounced 3-4 words incorrectly, with some effort for correction.
Excellent 9-10

3. Grammar

4. Fluency

Poor 1-2

Student presented a below average demonstration of French fluency. Student stumbled over words and missed or confused lines multiple times. Student's use of note-cards for lines was obvious. It appeared student did not understand what he/she was saying.
Fair 3-5

Student presented an average demonstration of French fluency. Student stumbled over words and missed or confused lines more than 3 times. Student had to use note-cards for lines often. Student's intonation/expression was often inappropriate.
Good 6-8

Student presented an average demonstration of French fluency. Student stumbled over words at times and confused lines two or less times. Student had to use note cards for lines often. Student's intonation indicating an understanding of what he/she was saying.
Excellent 9-10

Student presented an average to above average performance. Student had few to no issues with fluency.
5. Props

Poor 1-2

Students used 0-1 props in their skit and/or props did not contribute to the performance.
Fair 3-5

Students used 2 props and most contributed to the understanding of the performance.
Good 6-8

Students used 3-4 props and most contributed to the understanding of the performance.
Excellent 9-10

Students used 5 or more props and all contributed to the performance making the skit very entertaining!
6. Effort and Attitude

Poor 1-2

The student put little to no effort into the skit and the group grade suffered because of attitude.
Fair 3-5

The student could have done more to contribute and/or was not showing enthusiasm in front of the class.
Good 6-8

The student could have done more to contribute and/or, however was showing enthusiasm in front of the class.
Excellent 9-10

The student was excited and ready to present with a smile! The group benefited from this member!
7. Creativity

Poor 1-2

The students presented little creativity in their skit.Students worked together poorly, video was late, preparation was unorganized, and/or took away from the overall quality of the work
Fair 3-5

The student's presentation was a little creative, room for improvement.
Students worked together , video was on time, preparation was unorganized, and/or took away from the overall quality of the work
Good 6-8

The student's presentation was creative and unique, however had room for improvement.
Students worked together with little or no problems, video was on time, and/or organization was lacking but acceptable.
Excellent 9-10

The student's work was very creative and unique!
8. Participation

Poor 1-2

Did not work well within his/her group, and did not bring ideas to their group.
Fair 3-5

Not all group member's participated according to the task.
Good 6-8

All group member's fully participated, however, there's room for improvement.
Excellent 9-10

All group member's fully participated and brought ideas to their group.
9. Subtitles

Poor 1-2

Subtitles were inaccurate more than accurate. English speakers would not know what the video was really about.
Fair 3-5

Competent subtitles provided. Translations were at times word-for-word and they did not always convey the essence. Several inaccuracies occurred.
Good 6-8

Effective subtitles provided. Translations were not word-for-word, and they conveyed the essence although a few inaccuracies occurred.
Excellent 9-10

Thorough and accurate subtitles provided. Translations were not literally word-for-word and the essence was conveyed.
10. Script

Poor 1-2

No Script
Fair 3-5

Script was incomplete and evidenced minimal effort.
Good 6-8

Script was almost complete, but missing some critical elements. Evidence of concerted effort.
Excellent 9-10

Complete script with all dialogue and vocabulary well written with minimal errors.
