	Excellent The student shows evidence of preparation and practice. 10 pts	Good The student shows some evidence of practice and preparation. More is needed to become proficient. 5 pts	Fair The student needs to practice more, ask for assistance if needed, but try to improve , relax. More preparation will help with confidence. 3 pts	Poor The student did not try at all. Student showed no effort towards completing the task. 0 pts
NOTES	Excellent The student plays the correct notes at least 90% of the time.	Good The student plays the correct notes at least 80% of the time.	Fair The student plays the correct notes at least 70% of the time.	Poor The student did not play any of the notes. The student did not play.
POSTURE	Excellent The student sits up properly at the keyboard and demonstrate proper posture for playing the piano at least 90% of the time.	Good The student sits up properly at the keyboard and demonstrate proper posture for playing the piano at least 80% of the time.	Fair The student sits up properly at the keyboard and demonstrate proper posture for playing the piano at least 70% of the time.	Poor The student does not sit up and maintain proper posture at the keyboard.
FINGERING	Excellent The student uses the correct fingering to play each note at least 90% of the time.	Good The student uses the correct fingering to play each note at least 80% of the time.	Fair The student uses the correct fingering to play each note at least 70% of the time.	Poor The student does not use the correct fingering to play each note.
Hand Position	Excellent The fingers are curved and the wrist is comfortable high as the student is playing.	Good The student is doing a pretty good job but needs to curve fingers more, or adjust wrist position.	Fair The student is playing with flat fingers and a low wrist. He/she may be touching the keyboard with his/her palm while playing.	Poor The student did not play the example using any hand position.
