Consistently correct pulse, notes, rhythms, and fingerings.

Infrequent errors in notes, rhythms, fingerings, pulse. A few minor technical problems.

A lack of consistently correct notes, rhythms, pulse, and fingerings. Student may rush or slow technically difficult passages.

Many inaccurate notes, rhythms, fingerings, and pulse. Technical passages are weak. Too many start and stops.

Consistently uses correct finger, wrist, hand, posture, and arm positions.

A few minor problems with fingering, wrist, hand, posture, and arm positioning.

Often uses incorrect posture, finger, wrist, hand, arm positions.

Little understanding of correct posture, finger, wrist, hand, or arm positions.

Student has effectively used all class time showing excellent and consistent effort and progress in class.

Student has practiced effectively most of the time. Little to no talking with others. Student generally shows good effort in class with questions and progress.

Student has wasted more than half of the class time by talking, roaming around the room, or fooling. Student has put in little effort in class.

Student has shown little or no effort to practice music in class.
Has spent time talking or just sitting there.
