Steady Beat	1 Student is unable to play with a steady beat throughout the performance. There are 6 or more steady beat mistakes/hesitations that took away from the overall performance. Student	2 Student plays with a steady beat throughout SOME of the performance. There are 3-5 steady beat mistakes/hesitations that took away from the overall performance.	3 Student plays with a steady beat throughout MOST of the performance. There are 1-2 steady beat mistakes/hesitations but these did not take away from the overall performance.	4 Student plays with a steady beat throughout ALL of the performance. There were no steady beat mistakes/hesitations in the entire performance.
Rhythm	1 There were 6 or more rhythmic mistakes that took away from the overall performance. Student is unable to demonstrate mastery of rhythms at this time.	2 There were 3-5 rhythmic mistakes that took away from the overall performance. Student is not able to demonstrate consistent mastery of rhythms at this time.	3 There were no more than 1-2 rhythmic mistakes and they did NOT take away from the overall performance.	4 All rhythms are accurate. There are NO steady beat/rhythmic mistakes.
Pitch Accuracy	1 A few of the notes/pitches during the performance are played accurately. There are 6 or more pitch mistakes that took away from the overall performance. Student is unable to show consistent mastery of pitches at this time.	2 Some notes/pitches during the performance are played accurately. There are 3-5 pitch mistakes that took away from the overall performance. Student is unable to show consistent mastery of rhythms at this time.	3 Most notes/pitches during the performance are played accurately. There are only 1-2 pitch mistakes that did not take away from the overall performance.	4 All notes/pitches throughout the entire performance are played accurately. There are NO pitch mistakes.
Technique	1 The student is unable to use correct fingerings and does not understand the difference from one note to the next. The performance has 6 or more technical errors. The student is unable to show understanding of the pima technique at this time.	2 Some fingerings are correct. The student is NOT able to tell which notes were played incorrectly. There are 3 to 5 technical errors. The proper pima technique is not used consistently and there were 3-5 technical errors.	3 Most fingerings are correct. When asked, the student is able to tell which notes were played incorrectly and can tell how to fix it. There are no more than 1 to 2 technical errors. The proper pima technique is mostly used with only 1-2 technical errors.	4 All fingerings are correct. The performance is free of technical errors. The proper pima technique is used throughout the entire lesson.
Musicality	1 The performance was not smooth throughout and there were so many mistakes, that the student does not demonstrate musicality at this time.	2 The performance was not smooth throughout and the several mistakes took away from the overall performance. The student did not demonstrate use of dynamics and phrasing throughout the entire performance.	3 The performance was mostly smooth throughout and the few mistakes did not take away from the overall performance. Although not consistent, the student demonstrated some use of dynamics and phrasing throughout the entire performance.	4 The performance was smooth throughout and had good flow from beginning to end. Student showed mastery of dynamics and phrasing throughout the entire performance.
