CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.MD.C.7: Telling Time
2nd grade students will complete a worksheet on telling time. Students are expected to position the hands on the analog clock when given a written time; and to read and write the time when given an image of an analog or digital clock set to a specific time. Students are expected to be able to read and write time to the nearest five minute intervals and distinguish correct usage of a.m. or p.m. on a digital or analog clock .

Placing The Hands of The Clock.
Poor (lowest score)
Student cannot place the hands of the analog clock correctly corresponding with the times asked to do.
Good
Student can place the hands of the analog clock correctly corresponding with the times asked some of the time, but unable to do so every time.
Excellent (highest score)
Student places the hands of the analog clock correctly corresponding with the times asked to do all of the time.
Telling Time
Poor (lowest score)
Student cannot tell time on a digital or analog clock to 5 minute intervals when asked, and struggles even with the hour or half-hour intervals they learned the year prior when asked.
Good
Student can somewhat tell time on a digital or analog clock to 5 minute intervals when asked, and remembers how to tell time to the hour or half-hour intervals from the previous year, but not every time they are asked.
Excellent (highest score)
Student can accurately tell time on a digital or analog clock to five minute intervals every time they are asked and can remember how to tell time to the half hour, quarter hour with ease.
Correct Usage of A.M. and P.M.
Poor (lowest score)
Students can not distinguish between a.m. and p.m. symbols in relation to time of day and when to correctly use them when telling time.

Students can distinguish between a.m. and p.m. symbols in relation to time of day and when to correctly use them when telling time some of the time, but unable to do so every time.
Excellent (highest score)
Students can accurately distinguish between a.m. and p.m. symbols in relation to time of day and when to correctly use them when telling time, every time.
Writing out the Time
Poor (lowest score)
Student cannot write out the time correctly when shown a time on a digital or analog clock. Student does not complete any of the telling time worksheet where they are asked to write the time.
Good
Student can write out the time when shown time on a digital or analog clock occasionally. Student can write time on time worksheet, but only completes part of it.
Excellent (highest score)
Student can write out the time when shown a time on a digital or analog clock all the time. Student can accurately write time on time worksheet.
Word Problem
Poor (lowest score)
Student cannot identify how to solve a word problem given a time.
Good
Student can sometimes identify how to solve a word problem given a time but neglects to explain how they got their answer.
Excellent (highest score)
Student can identify how to solve a word problem given a time and is able to explain how they got their correct answer.
