Playing Test
	Below Basic 6 pts	Basic 9 pts	Proficient 12 pts	Advanced 15 pts
Left Hand 35 %	Below Basic Does not demonstrate basic left hand structure.	Basic Basic structure beginning but not consistent.	Proficient Left hand/arm has good basic structure. Wrist is relaxed and arm moves fluidly around instrument	Advanced Left hand, thumb, arm, and wrist are straight and relaxed. Bass and Cello: Thumb is behind second finger. Violin/Viola: Thumb is next to 1st finger.
Right Hand 35 %	Below Basic Does not demonstrate basic right hand structure	Basic Bow arm needs attention. No flexibility Arm needs to be relaxed. The bow is not connecting with the string in the proper place.	Proficient Bow arm has beginning basic structure. Contact point, weight and speed are consistent. Bow hold is generally relaxed.	Advanced Right hand, elbow, and shoulder are relaxed and flexible. Bow has weight and is moving straight. Thumb is relaxed and slightly bent. Violin/Viola: Pinky is bent on top of bow. Cello/Bass: Pinky is resting over the top of the bow.
Posture 30 %	Below Basic Does not demonstrate basic posture.	Basic Instrument is in the proper position, but the body is not in the proper posture.	Proficient Instrument is generally in the correct place and posture is proper most of the time.	Advanced Violin/Viola: Instrument is properly on shoulder and elbow is off of side. Sits up straight on edge of seat. Cello: Instrument is not resting on shoulder and is correctly aligned. Sits of straight on edge of seat. Bass: Side of instrument is correctly resting against body. Stands up straight.
