Effort and Participation

How much effort was put into the task? What artifacts of learning can be observed?
How much detail was included (e.g. sub-bullets)?
How multimodal is the product/performance?
Is there a conceptual focus (e.g. conceptual questions)?
Are others' voices included (e.g. critical perspectives, research from the existing body of literature?)

0

No artifacts of learning observed. No substantial effort.
1

Something was submitted, although the artifact is either incomplete or difficult to observe.
e.g. incomplete notes, performance was reluctant or abruptly cut-off. Oral tasks lack effort or are monotone.
2

Something submitted with some effort apparent. Artifacts such as notes, drawings, but only one-dimensional, such as lists without visuals, conceptual focus or critical voices.
Written tasks, a few sentences only. Oral performances don't include efforts at intonation, volume dynamics and articulation.
3-4

There is some effort observed in the learning artifacts.
Some multidimensionality in the notetaking (for example, some underlining or visual element) or a single visual or concept included.
Written tasks a short paragraph, or if bullet-point, only basic bullets, no secondary points.
No critical voices included.
Oral tasks include an effort at intonation, stress, volume dynamics.
Generally, makes a good presentation but lacks detail (quotes/textual evidence) and critical voice.
5-6

Good artifacts with several multifaceted dimensions, including conceptual Q, visuals, although this may not be extensive.
For written tasks, at least a longer paragraph with many lines of inquiry.
Oral tasks include a strong effort at intonation, stress, volume dynamics.
Notes are multidimensional, such as including color-coding, visual elements etc.
Detailed with textual evidence. Critical voices not included.
7-8

Several artifacts.
Clearly multimodal, with visuals, several conceptual Qs and at least one critical voice.
For written tasks, several thoughtful paragraphs.
For notes, several types and lots of detail such as underlining etc.
For oral tasks, intonation, stress, and clear articulation and volume.
Very detailed with textual evidence and visual evidence. Critical voices included.
9-10

Outstanding multimodality: effective visuals, multilayered bullet-points with sub-headings, several key conceptual Qs, and several key critical perspectives. For written tasks, several thoughtful and effective paragraphs - a sophisticated piece of academic writing. For notes, several types with effective and highlighted details. For oral tasks, sophisticated intonation, stress etc., and rhetorical power.
