Theme & Composition	Exceeds the Standard Student went above the standard and incorporated their own personal artistic style with their theme choice and image composition.	Above the Standard Student went above the standard and incorporated their own personal artistic style with their theme choice yet their composition was lacking.	Meets the Standard Student randomly chose a theme and images, and did not compose their images well.	Below the Standard Student did not complete this task.
Value	Exceeds the Standard Student applies shading techniques with excellent skill to show a broad range of values.	Above the Standard Student applies shading techniques with above average skill to show a broad range of values.	Meets the Standard Student applies shading techniques with average skill and shows a limited range of values.	Below the Standard Student applies shading techniques with minimum skill.
Craftsmanship	Exceeds the Standard Student completes artwork with high level of craftsmanship. Drawing is neat, clean & complete. Piece is not wrinkled, torn, or otherwise “distressed”.	Above the Standard Student completes artwork with some high levels of craftsmanship and some finishing touches.	Meets the Standard Student completes artwork with evidence of basic levels of craftsmanship.	Below the Standard Student completes artwork with isolated evidence of craftsmanship.
Effort	Exceeds the Standard Assignment is complete, far exceeded requirements. Excellent use of studio time student always on task	Above the Standard Assignment is complete, beyond basic requirements.
