Student has a satisfactory understanding of the novel and demonstrates that knowledge adequately in their project. The topic or theme they have chosen is explained adequately. The student has more or less met the criteria for their chosen project, although some elements may be missing.
Good

Student has an good understanding of the novel and demonstrates that knowledge well in their project. The topic or theme they have chosen is explained comprehensively. The student has met the criteria for their chosen project.
Excellent

Student has an excellent understanding of the novel and demonstrates that knowledge insightfully in their project. The topic or theme they have chosen is explained thoroughly and appropriately. The student has gone above and beyond the criteria for their chosen project.
Layout, Presentation

Poor

The student did a poor job of illustrating their topc through layout, use of color, images. Writing is difficult to read, with no attempt at neatness and with many errors. Typed work is in correct font size and type and is double spaced but there are so many errors in spelling and conventions that the writing is difficult to understand.
Fair

The student did a satisfactory job of illustrating their topc through layout, use of color, images. Writing is somewhat messy, mostly legible with significant errors. Typed work is in correct font size and type and is double spaced but there are errors in spelling and conventions that detract from the writing.
Good

The student did a good job of illustrating their topc through layout, use of color, images. Writing is quite neat, legible with few errors. Typed work is in correct font size and type and is double spaced. There are minor errors in spelling and conventions.
Excellent

The student did an exemplary job of illustrating their topc through layout, use of color, images. Writing is exceptionally neat, legible and error free. Typed work is in correct font size and type and is double spaced. There are only one or two errors in spelling and conventions.
Appropriate Use of Time

Poor

The student needed extensive assistance to remain focused on the task. He/she needed a lot of help to plan the project and constantly had to be reminded to stay on task. Despite extensive assistance the student turned in work that was insufficient, or did not turn the project in by the deadline.
Fair

The student needed some assistance to remain focused on the task. He/she planned the project with some assistance and needed some guidance as to how to start and how to improve the work. During the assigned class time, the student had to be reminded to stay on task in order to complete their project. The student required some redirection and assistance to complete the project.
Good

The student was for the most part focused and task driven. He/she planned the project well and chose a project that would more or less compliment his/her strengths. The class time provided was used mostly appropriately and the student finished on time. He/She may have needed the occasional reminder to stay on task.
Excellent

The student was focused and task driven. He/she planned the project carefully and chose a project that would compliment his/her strengths. The class time provided was used appropriately and the student finished on time.
