	"E" Needs Improvement 0 pts	"C" Okay, but not proficient 1 pts	"A" Great and Proficient 2 pts
Sizes up Scene	"E" Rescuer does not check the scene for safety	"C" Rescuer has to be prompted to check the scene for safety	"A" Rescuer checks scene for safe entry, sees what could possibly cause injury, and if there is any other victims.
Checks Level Of Consciousness	"E" Doesn't check responsiveness or does inappropriately.	"C" Needs prompting to check for responsiveness or does not check for responsiveness correctly.	"A" Checks for responsiveness by using a shout, tap, shout technique.
Summons for Advanced Care	"E" Student forgets to call for help	"C" Needs prompting to call 911	"A" Asks for someone to call 911 directly or calls themselves. Is calm and prompt in answers to questions to dispatch more advanced medical care.
Check Breathing and Pulse	"E" Forgets to check for breathing and pulse.	"C" Needs prompting to check for breathing and/or pulse or does it incorrectly.	"A" Make sure victim is on hard, flat surface. Opens airway by tilting back head. Checks for breathing by listening and looking, while checking for pulse on carotid artery.
Begins CPR	"E" Forgets to do 30 compressions and 2 breaths	"C" Needs prompting to do 30 compressions or 2 breaths or doesn't do full amount. Does compressions to fact or too slow.	"A" Successfully does 30 compressions correctly with proper hand placement and proper depth (at least two inches). Pinches nose and gives one second of air each breath.
Continues until...	"E" Stops after first cycle	"C" Needs prompting to continue.	"A" Another trained responder takes over after 5 cycles. EMS takes over. AED is analyzing or shocking victim. Scene becomes unsafe. You become too tired.
