Short Story IVF Summary Rubric

Student will include the title in quotes and author. Within the summary, students will use a topic sentence that cites the story title and author. The summary should include the main characters, the conflict and resolution, and a summary of the plot.

Organization of Poster The report is written in a logical sequence and gives an easy to understand summary of the book's plot and main events.	Meeting Standard The summary includes a title and topic sentence. Transitions are used to move reader through the plot sequenced events. The main events of the story are clearly explained and give a clear understaning of the plot of the story.	Approaching Standard The summary follows somewhat of a logical path. It jumps around a little bit, though. The plot and main events of the story are summarized.	Below standard The summary jumps around a lot and is hard to follow. The summary is hard to understand and doesn't clearly explain the plot or main events of the book.
Neatness and Conventions of Poster	Meeting Standard The summary has no noticeable errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling.	Approaching Standard The summary has a few minor errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling.	Below standard The summary has many errors in grammar, punctuation, and/or spelling.
