Preparation	Excellent Group is well prepared and it is obvious that they rehearsed the rap thoroughly.	Good Group is quite well prepared and it is obvious that they did spend some time rehearsing the rap .	Fair Group is not very well prepared and there is only some evidence that time was spent rehearsing the rap.	Weak Group is obviously unprepared for the task. No evidence of any rehearsals.
Memorization	Excellent The group has made a lot of effort to memorize the rap and is able to present it without error or very little error.	Good The group has made some effort to memorize the rap and is able to present it with very little error.	Fair The group has made little effort to memorize the rap.	Weak The group has made no effort to memorize the rap.
Pausing and Pacing	Excellent The group uses pauses and pace effectively to communicate meaning and/or enhance dramatic impact of the rap.	Good The group uses pauses and pacing to communicate meaning and/or enhance dramatic impact of the rap.	Fair Pauses and pacing were not effective in improving meaning and/or dramatic effect. Pauses at ends of lines rather than at punctuation marks. Delivery is in bursts.	Weak Pauses were not intentionally used. Delivery is either too quick or too slow. Reads words with no logical grouping.
Clarity and Expression	Excellent The group speaks clearly, distinctly, and with appropriate and varied pitch and tone modulation. Recites loudly enough for all to hear throughout the presentation.	Good The group speaks clearly and distinctly. Some minor lapses in pitch, tone and volume OR the emotion conveyed did not always fit the content OR emphasis uneven.	Fair The group speaks clearly but is, at times, indistinct, too quiet, and/or pitch was rarely used OR the emotion it conveyed often did not fit the content.	Weak The group does not speak clearly, mispronounces words and is inaudible to the audience. Spoken in monotone.
