Digital Storybook ~ Leadership 
Create a digital storybook that you will share with younger students. Use your expository writing on leadership as your foundation for your script. The goal is to explain leadership to younger students using a clear main idea and supporting details.

Presentation is primarily monologue. Repeated errors in grammar and conventions distracted greatly from the story. It is difficult to figure out the purpose of the presentation. The story needs extensive editing. It is too long or two short to be interesting.
Basic

Uses conversational style most of the time (70-84%). Grammar and conventions were typically correct but detracted from the story. There are a few lapses in focus, but the purpose is fairly clear. The story seems to need more editing and is noticeably short in one or two sections.
Proficient

Uses a conversational style the majority of the time (85-95%). Grammar and conventions are typically correct and do not detract from the story. Establishes purpose and maintains clear focus through most of the script. The story composition is typically good though it seems to drag somewhat OR need slightly more detail in one or two sections.
Advanced

Uses conversational story throughout, grammar and conventions are used correctly. Establishes purpose early on and maintains a clear focus throughout. The script has a substantial amount of supporting details and does not seem too long or too short. (2 - 2.5 minutes)
Storyboard

There is no evidence of a storyline.
Basic

The story is difficult to follow.
Proficient

The story is complete but lacks depth.
Advanced

The story is easy to follow and shows significant planning.
Digital Storybook

Needs time and teaching

The story is not complete, and only meets minimal requirements. The project does not have a storyboard.
Basic

The digital story is missing significant elements. The project is emerging, but needs more supporting details added.
Proficient

The digital story is completed, yet the content is not grade level appropriate. The digital story is engaging, visually attractive, yet it is not complete for the oral presentation. Project is completed but more editing is needed.
Advanced

The digital story is grade level appropriate and engaging for students. It is engaging, visually attractive and ready to be used in the oral presentation. The story book is nicely presented including sound and visual images.
Oral Presentation

Needs time and teaching

No eye contact with audience, as entire report is read from notes. Tension and nervousness is obvious; has trouble recovering from mistakes. Shows absolutely no interest in topic presented.
Student mumbles, incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for a majority of students to hear.
Audience cannot understand presentation because there is no sequence of information.
Basic

Displayed minimal eye contact with audience, while relying mostly on the visual aid to propel presentation. Displays mild tension; has trouble recovering from mistakes.
Shows some negativity toward topic presented.
Student’s voice is low. Student incorrectly pronounces terms. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation. Audience has difficulty following presentation because student jumps around.
Proficient

Consistent use of direct eye contact with audience, but relies heavily on the visual aid. Makes minor mistakes, but quickly recovers from them; displays little or no tension. Occasionally shows positive feelings about topic.
Student’s voice is clear. Student pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear presentation.
Advanced

Holds attention of entire audience with the use of direct eye contact. Students displays relaxed, self-confident nature about self. Demonstrates a strong, positive feeling about topic during entire presentation. Student uses a clear voice and good pronunciation of so that all audience members can hear presentation.
