Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class participation grade will be determined. All students are expected to participate in class!

	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor or no points 1 pts
ATTENDANCE	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is always on time and regularly attends classes.	Good GOOD Student is absent one or two times.	Fair FAIR Student is late three times and may be late sometimes.	Poor POOR Student has four or more absences in the semester. Zero points for 5+ absences.
PUNCTUALITY	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is on time regularly or early for class.	Good GOOD Student is usually on time or early (one or two tardies).	Fair FAIR Student is sometimes on time (three or four tardies).	Poor POOR Student is often late, four or more times. Zero points for 5+ tardies.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR	Excellent EXCELLENT Student often asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions.	Good GOOD Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions.	Fair FAIR Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions.	Poor POOR Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions.
PREPARATION	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials punctually.	Good GOOD Student is usually prepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late.	Fair FAIR Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late.	Poor POOR Student is almost always unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late.
Respect	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is respectful to everyone all of the time. Student interacts with other students politely all the time.	Good GOOD Student is respectful most of the time to everyone. Student interacts with other students politely most of the time.	Fair FAIR Student is respectful some of the time. Student interacts with other students politely some of the time.	Poor POOR Student is disrespectful. Student is impolite with other students.
