This rubric will be used to evaluate value creation with colored pencils. It will also evaluate value creation with hatching, crosshatching, and stippling.

Objective is to try and obtain as smooth a gradation as possible in ten steps from white to the desired color.

With a little more effort this would have been an excellent work! Student as spent the time attempting to obtain a smooth value gradation from white to black. This is evident by the 2-3 small visual jumps or walls.

Clean hard edge lines, no smudges.painted values are smooth solid value fills, can not see white of tag board coming through.

Student took the time to obtain near perfect craft. all edges are extremely hard edge and white spaces do not have smears or smudges.
Values are smooth and solid, you can not see the white of the board.

With a little more effort this would have been an excellent work! Student took the time to obtain near perfect craft. all edges are extremely hard edge and white spaces may have minimal smears or smudges. Paint covers are smooth and solid, for the most part you can not see the white of the board coming through. has project label on back of boards.

Student shows effort in trying to obtain good craft; although there are multiple smudges in the white spaces of the projects and although it seems they tried to obtain hard edges there are quite a few inconsistencies in the edges.

Student wrote down the bare minimum, and put little effort into their writing.
