It focuses on students' understanding, representation, and communication of solving number stories. Number Story Rubric
	Beginning Below Standard 1 pts	Practicing Approaching Standard 2 pts	Applying Meets Standard 3 pts
Creating	Beginning Student is not able to create a story.	Practicing Student creates the number story but still confuses the sign "+" and "-".	Applying Student creates and solve number stories correctly with understanding of "+" and "-" signs.
Representation	Beginning Student is unsure to use pictures and number sentences to represent the number story.	Practicing Student use either the pictures and number sentences to represent the number story showing minor error.	Applying Student uses pictures and number sentences to represent the number story.
Communication	Beginning Student cannot explain in writing what they did. Solution is inaccurate and/or unclear.	Practicing Student clearly explains the solution in writing with some appropriate math language.	Applying Student clearly explains in writing the solution and uses appropriate math language.
